NASA’s Earth Observatory

Okay, maybe I should have been a scientist. No matter, I’m really enjoying the chance to revisit the basics of science with my daughter. In particular, I came across [NASA’s Earth Observatory][nasa]. The great thing about sites like this, full of content that is, is that spelunking is such a joy in and of itself, opening up the chance to learn things just through discovery.

I have a variety of reasons for interest in the migration of things from Africa to the New World. Most of my interest focuses on people and the things, and ideas, they carried, but I can’t help but be interested in larger trends, like the migration of dust:

And then there’s this satellite photo of a dust storm making its way from West Africa to the Atlantic.
